Import & Export Customs Coordinator

Job Title:                    Import & Export Customs Coordinator

Job Purpose:             To ensure continued flow of goods imported from EU/ exported to EU and with correct paperwork in light of Brexit requirements. Maintain and manage customs, vets and supplier relationships and provide an excellent support level to internal and external teams.

  • Responsible for overseeing preparation and submission of all documentation required to primarily facilitate imports to UK but also exports to EU
  • Overseeing import & exports processes and recordkeeping assurances for the purposes of customs
  • Support ‘ad-hoc’ business projects as required
  • Apply continuous improvement across all import and export processes, looking for ways to improve efficiencies and reduce manual input
  • Work closely with IT department to ensure correct import and export data flow and raise relevant IT tickets

Reporting Line:         Import & Export Team Leader

Main tasks and responsibilities:

Imports (e2e flow of finished goods) EU to GB

  • Complete import declarations & IPAFF entries within agreed SLA and adhering to 100% accuracy
  • Maintaining e-custom clearance platform data is correct and viable
  • Ensure import trackers are kept up to date and accurate
  • Manage the import audit report
  • Troubleshooting and mitigating potential customs issues until resolution to ensure flow of goods
  • Support in preparation of annual audit of custom brokers for trade compliance
  • Key contact for LALOG/ Customs Platform/Vet/ Factories/Planning/Credit Control/Supply Planners
  • Keep track of weekly reports of import/export declarations for reconciliation purposes

 

Exports (e2e flow of finished goods) GB to EU

  • Ensure customer orders are fully checked, received and entered in system in a timely fashion with 100% accuracy
  • Issue set of export documentation (Invoice, EHC, Export declaration, TADs, etc) for cheddar, empty pallets, NI & ROI shipments, including Traces
  • Ensure correct set of documents is accurately issued according to country of destination regulatory requirements
  • Ensure export trackers are kept up to date and accurate

 

Experience/Knowledge and skills:

  • Demonstrate a high degree of data accuracy, numeracy, ability to multitask
  • Knowledge of import/ export regulations and documentation requirements (export & import declaration; health certificates; vets, etc.) (preferable, not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to prioritise and plan effectively with the ability to demonstrate a high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated proficiency using key software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Self-motivated and able to work without supervision
  • Enthusiastic team player and driven to achieve targets and objectives

 

Desirable Skills/Experience/Knowledge:

  • Experience with e- customs platforms
  • French language is preferable but not essential
