THE GALLOWAY GATHERING PROJECT DONATES MORE THAN 90,000 MEALS TO COMMUNITIES ACROSS SCOTLAND IN 2025

The Galloway Gathering Project, a nationwide campaign bringing together Scottish cheese brand and UK charity FareShare, has raised the equivalent of 92,000 meals directly for those going through food poverty and loneliness.

As part of its calendar of community events designed to combat loneliness and food poverty, the project travelled from Garve in the Highlands to Thornhill in Dumfries and Galloway to raise money and awareness for the vital work of FareShare.

New for 2025, the Galloway Gathering Tour visited the Highlands, Aberdeenshire, Dumfries and Galloway, and Stirling, with over 150 attendees enjoying cheesy comfort food, live music, and meaningful social connections at each event.

The Tour, which took place over the month of October featured live performances by acclaimed Scottish musician Anna Massie, a multi-instrumentalist and presenter of BBC Radio Scotland’s award-winning Travelling Folk.

Ambassador of the project, MasterChef the Professional champion and award-winning chef Gary Maclean visited Dundee to whip up plates of Macaroni and Cheese to Dundee locals, encouraging social interaction through warm and comforting meals. Meanwhile, Scottish local food trucks also returned to the Galloway Gathering Project for the third-year running, offering a range of cheesy dishes encouraging the local community to donate to Fareshare.

Heloise Le Norcy-Trott, Marketing Director at Lactalis UK & Ireland said: Seeing the Galloway Gathering Project thrive for a third consecutive year is incredibly rewarding. It’s grown beyond our expectations, and we’re proud of its impact.

“This initiative brings communities together through food, music, and shared experiences. We’re especially grateful to those who donated to FareShare, a charity doing vital work across the UK.”

The Galloway Gathering Project founded in 2023, is a nationwide campaign bringing together Scottish cheese brand Galloway Cheddar and FareShare, the UK’s largest charity dedicated to tackling the environmental problem of food waste for social good. Like 2024, Galloway Cheddar has directly donated the equivalent of 90,000 meals this year towards those who need them – a further 1935 meals were donated by the public through community events as part of The Galloway Gathering Project 2025.

As the 2025 Galloway Gathering Project draws to a close, Galloway Cheddar will host its final community event this December at Just Bee Studios in Dundee. Returning to Just Bee studios in Dundee, the local community are invited to enjoy a cheesy meal cooked by none other than Master Chef Professional Winner and Galloway Gathering Project Ambassador, Gary Maclean. The event aims to bring the Dundee community together through a hearty warm meal.
